There can be solar tax credits and incentives available at the federal, state and local levels. The calculator above will show you the value of all incentives your home is eligible for.
Arkansas continues to be a strong place to consider investing in home solar, because costs have fallen and there's a high amount of sunshine blanketing the state. It also helps that there is a strong net metering policy in effect. That means your utility must credit you for the solar power you aren’t able to use onsite, and send back to them. What’s more, solar leasing is now available in Arkansas, opening up more options for you to go solar!
Read on to explore the entire savings, policy, and incentive picture for home solar panel installation in Arkansas.
Learn what solar incentives are available to Arkansas homeowners
See what Arkansas solar incentives you qualify for based on your utility company and city
Find out how much these incentives and/or Arkansas solar tax credits will reduce your cost to go solar and add batteries
The federal solar investment tax credit will have the biggest impact on the cost you will face to go solar in Arkansas
If you install your photovoltaic system before the end of 2032, the federal tax credit is 30% of the cost of your solar panel system. This is 30% off the entire cost of the system including equipment, labor, and permitting.
Example: If your solar energy system costs $20,000, your federal solar tax credit would be $20,000 x 30% = $6,000.
The federal tax credit falls to 26% starting in 2033.
With net metering in some states, you get full retail rate credit for the amount of electricity you send back into the grid with your solar panels.
Net Metering requires your utility to monitor how much energy your solar power system produces and how much energy you actually consume to make sure you get credit for the surplus.
Net Metering is offered in Arkansas through all utility companies, and you get credited at full retail electricity rates when you are producing more solar electricity than you are using.
Net metered systems can be up to 25 kW large for home solar in Arkansas. That’s about 80 panels, way more than enough to cover your electricity needs, even if you’re housing a few families and several wandering souls.
In 2019, the Arkansas legislature also allowed solar leasing to be available, opening up more options for you to go solar. Unfortunately, they also decided that the state public utilities commission can determine whether offering net metering represents an "undue burden" on non-solar customers, which is a dog whistle that utility-backed legislators use to indicate support for imposing new fees and reducing compensation paid to solar owners. If you're thinking of going solar in Arkansas, we recommend to do it soon, before they change the deal on you.
While Arkansas does not have a dedicated state rebate for solar panel installation, some manufacturers like LG offer their own solar rebates. These programs are usually time sensitive. For example, LG offers a $600 solar rebate on their equipment, which your installer can help you redeem over the next year.

I bought equipment online with the hopes of building a DIY solar system (not recommended). After purchasing all the equipment, I quickly realized I was in over my head. New Farm Solar came to the rescue and, using the components that I had already purchased, built us a custom solar setup that provides the flexibility and all the functionality we needed. It was an unconventional and complicated grid-tied build providing grid and backup power to several buildings on the property. It was only because of New Farm Solar's extensive experience with many different designs and equipment manufactures that made it possible. Without their expertise, we would have ended up with nothing more than a very expensive brick sitting in the shed. Also, the office staff is top notch, there was zero sales pressure before signing, their contract process was straight forward and transparent, and all our questions and concerns were promptly addressed before, during and even after the build was completed. Thank you to everyone at New Farm Solar.

I'm sure the product is probably fine, but I'm guessing there are other companies that are more transparent and better at communicating. Once we were installed and running, which took close to a year, we were dropped like a hot potato. No more answering questions by them. It's as if they could care less once they've sold you their product. The communication within the company was just as bad. No one ever seemed to know what you were told by another dept. or why. It was a terrible experience. Our electric company also told us that no one was passing their inspections with BRS because they were ignoring the criteria, in obvious hopes the electric company would negotiate or compromise on their rules.

From the moment I decided to enter into an agreement, until sign off on the project, I could not have been happier. I had researched many solar installers, national and local. Stitt, hands down is the solar installer you want. They kept me updated on where we were in the process and even worked with me on site clean up details. Truly a professional and customer-oriented business. HIGHLY recommend you talk to them about solar!

AEV came up with our proposal in a short time and presented it to us with a detailed booklet describing their reasoning. They are young, energetic, and professional. We agreed to a 6.4 kW grid-tied system which they installed in one day. We can read its power out from anywhere with our phone. I later had them add an additional 3.2 kW in panels so we are now selling more energy to the utility company than we are using. We are very happy with the whole experience. Highly recommended!!!

I STRONGLY recommend Perihelion Solar for your solar system. My Background: I'm a mechanical engineer with a business degree and 40 years of industry experience with product design, testing, analysis, support, and project management. I did a great deal of research on solar, panel makes/models, design options, providers, etc. before choosing Perihelion. Their proposal was similar in price to another that I had received, BUT their design was superior in several ways. Although Perihelion is a small Arkansas-based provider, they more than make up for that by being passionate about "doing solar right". Owner Andy and salesperson Jill were very thorough in answering my (many) questions about Perihelion, how to optimize my design, after sales support, warranty, contract, etc. Heath and his panel install team were amazing - their attention to detail showed. Heath was happy to let me observe the install and answered any/all my questions during the install. Wes performed the electrical/control box install and was outstanding. He encountered an issue with the local utility requirements and spent considerable extra time, expense, and installed extra equipment to meet the utility requirements (and at Perihelion expense!). He too was great to work with, explained the design details, and answered all my questions. I've had a few questions after my system was installed, and Jill and team have been very responsive. It's clear they truly want me to be a satisfied customer. The personal touch/support is one reason I chose a smaller solar provider and they've proven that to be a good decision. Bottom line: If you are looking for a solar provider that is passionate about solar and will provide you with a superior design, install, and post-sales support, I highly recommend Perihelion Solar. On top of that Perihelion associates top to bottom are some of the nicest, most professional teams which I've had the pleasure to work with.

This company installed a 3K string inverter system for me in Washington county Arkansas. Since installed I have been overwhelming impresses with the results. First I live in 1,500 square foot home, married and have 2 teenage children. My furnace and water heater are the only thing gas in my home. With this being said I have a grid tie system so I get a credit on my usage which in turn lowers my bill. My system was installed October 24th, 2014. After it being installed I have saved on average 46% of what it compares to the previous year. I guess what I'm telling this is I had one of the better days today when I received my electric bill ( that I've been eagerly waiting on with the sun staying out longer ) my bill was $28.50. I am very pleased with the install, function, warranty, company and representatives and all the $ that I have saved and will save even when the electric company decides to raise there rates which they always do. Thank you for what you have done for my family.
